-You – Name, Job Title and Company
Louise Jane, Makeup Artist

-Who is your inspiration?
This is such a hard one, as I have been inspired by many people not just in the makeup industry but for their work ethic and determination. Reading how many people have been successful in their careers and doing what they love, but for some its not been an easy path, where they’ve been turned down numerous times for opportunities and jobs or being told they’re not good enough to succeed, but through their hard work and determination they didn’t give up and became hugely successful. I find this to be so inspiring.

-What is your favourite piece of equipment?
My Chromawheel foundation, I absolutely love it! From its amazing coverage to its flawless finish, it stays on really well, its water resistant so that’s great for any shoots involving water.

-What made you choose your profession?
I have always loved transformation. I love seeing the before and after. I look at simile and create a look to best suit them, or creating a completely different character depending on the job. I was a nail technician before I became a hair and makeup artist, and it was the same thing, people would come to me with their nails needing tidying up or short and bitten and when tehy’d leave their nails were transformed. I get a buzz from doing someone hair and makeup, and thinking I created that look.

-Equipment you can't live without?
My makeup trolley kit. Being a hair and makeup artist, you have to have products to suit every hair type, skin type or tone. That’s A LOT of products! My trolley has different compartments and great to out my kit into and fid what I need easily, also wheeling it around is great because of the heavy weight of my kit!

-What are your achievements?
I've been lucky enough to do what I love as a career. I’ve been the hair and makeup artist on many photoshoots, commercials, music videos, short films and have had experience working in TV and film. In the commercial, photoshoot and short film area I have made my way up to her and makeup designer.

-What's the first album you bought?
The first album I ever owned was Backstreet Back by the Backstreet Boys.

-What is your favourite country visited?
Mexico!! I have been there three times, in different areas each time, and have loved it every time. I like to go out and do things when I go on holiday as well as a pool day, and there is lots to see and do in Mexico!

-What books, blogs or podcasts do you read or listen to?
I usually only have time to read a book if I am on holiday, so I don’t read much at all, apart from my hair and makeup bibles! One being Richard Corson’s, ‘The First 5,000 Years’.

-What do you do in your spare time?
My job is my hobby, so when i’m not working i’m usually practicing and learning new styles. i’m a foodie so I love to go out for nice meals and I enjoy watching films. If its a sunny day its nice to go out exploring new places. I’ve got a husband and two dogs and they certainly keep me entertained.

-If you were marooned on a desert island what 3 people (dead or alive) would you choose to be there with you and why?
My husband and parents. They are the three people in the world that I am closet to and I can rely on 100%. You want to be with people who you know will look out for you. Having said that I think throwing Bear Grylls into the mix would be a sensible idea!
